New Film Databases

The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) has recently announced the addition of two new CARLI-funded film collections available from Western Illinois University. Titles can be requested through the I-Share catalog. To request a title, you first need to have a current DU ID card and be registered at the library. If you haven’t already done so, stop by the circulation desk to register.

The African Film Collection, a collection of films about Africa, containing works by African and non-African filmmakers. The collection contains representative films, documentaries, and music DVDs and contains works from all over Africa. To view an alphabetical list (by title) of the collection go to:

All the films in this collection, including those not funded by CARLI are available for loan.

Another new CARLI collection is broadly based around the theme of “Homeland Security.” A special focus of this collection is 9/11 and its aftermath.

There is also a CARLI funded GLBT collection

And a Holocaust Collection partially funded by CARLI. Films in this collection located in the Quad Cities don’t circulate. These Quad City films belong to a separate special collection–not funded by CARLI. All other films in the Holocaust collection, however, do circulate.
