This Week is National Library Week

Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), National Library Week is April 12th-18th this year. Participation from various types of libraries such as school, public and private are commonly supported. This week is spent celebrating all of those who have contributed to libraries, as well as promoting the use of libraries within communities. Celebrate National Library Week by recognizing those who keep libraries in existence throughout communities and by spreading the word of  their importance.

According to the ALA, Celebrations during National Library Week include:

National Library Workers Day: Tuesday, April 14th is a day for recognition of the workers that contribute to the upkeep of libraries.

National Bookmobile Day: Wednesday, April 15th is a day to recognize professionals that create and exploit bookmobiles as well as recognize the importance of bookmobiles themselves.

Celebrate Teen Literature Day: Thursday, April 16th is a day to raise awareness of what literature has to offer to the young adults of communities across the country.
