You know you grew up during the 1990’s if the title Goosebumps or R.L. Stine rings a bell. Goosebumps is a series of children’s horror fiction novels developed by R.L. Stine which predominately gained their popularity between 1992 and 1997, in which 62 books were published. These children books which were a part of millions of childhoods were written and created by R.L. Stine who was born today, October 8, 1943! R.L. Stine is an American writer and producer, who began writing at the age of 9 when he stumbled upon a typewriter in his attic in Columbus, Ohio. One of his first hits was writing the humor magazine Bananas, which was geared toward teenagers, where he wrote 72 issues for Scholastic Press between 1975 and 1984. In 1992, Goosebumps was launched which earned him three consecutive years during the 1990’s of being named the number one best-selling author by USA Today. Without Goosebumps, millions of childhoods would not have been the same nor would their excitement for reading have been gained in such a way that it did if it was not for the “horrific” work of R.L. Stine.
